About Us

Isaac Coleman (left) is a former videogame and movie critic who wrote under the name “I Coleman”. He was best known for having strong opinions about Ready Player One, playing DOOM badly, and trying to get people to play Pathologic before that was cool. He’s also appeared on or hosted a number of now-defunct podcasts, including World Extermination Radio, The HPPodcast, Hey, Poor Adventurers!, and Star Worst.

Ruhe Coleman (right) is a mother of two nice Jewish boys who she raised to be creative, passionate, and wise enough to question everything. As the third generation of a “Disney family”, she also passed on her love for these classic parks, films, and shorts to her children.

When her oldest son, Isaac, started living on his own, watching and talking about Disney movies were an activity that kept them close. After Ruhe’s extremely popular guest appearance on one of Isaac’s shows, they started mulling over other projects they might work on together.

After a few years of off-and-on planning (and then another 9 months of recording and preparation during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic), those conversations materialized into Me, Mom & The Mouse – a podcast about the joy of watching cartoons with your family.

Me, Mom & The Mouse is a limited podcast series covering the 56 films in the Disney Animated Canon from Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs to Moana (and maybe beyond, we haven’t decided yet.) Plus two bonus animated Disney movies chosen by each host.

It’s the Disney podcast we always wanted to listen to: one that centers what’s so joyous about watching these movies but which isn’t uncritical of them or of the people that made them. Each episode considers not only the film itself, but its history, its legacy of spinoffs, sequels, remakes, rides, and/or reboots, and what it means personally to us and our family.

It updates every Friday and is available wherever you get your podcasts – iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher, Spotify, etc. And because we want parents and children to listen to this show together, all our episodes are free of explicit language.

You can download and listen to our introductory episode for more information.
